Guest Services & Operations Support

The Guest Services & Operations Support assists in the coordination of Chesapeake Bayhawks events and game days, facilitates guest experiences by providing superior customer service, and provides communications and marketing support for the company. This position reports to the Director of Ticket Sales, Sponsorship Sales, & Operations.

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Director in the coordination of logistical operations for Chesapeake Bayhawks game days, sponsorship events, promotional activities, press conferences, and annual meetings; operations include but are not limited to staffing, event setup, and preparation.
  • Serve as a secondary liaison for game day operational staff including the visiting team, officials, ticket takers, ushers, cheerleaders, mascots, off-field entertainment, guest services, suite holders, facilities management, emergency management, technical services, information technology (IT), disability management, and parking.
  • Operate the Guest Services tent on game days and provide positive interactions with all guests in a friendly and courtesy manner; be identifiable and available to answer guest questions, provide directions, and organize guest flow.
  • Collaborate and assist in the drafting and editing of work products such as flyers, reports, press releases, fan communications, announcements, and promotional material.
  • Apply a wide range of communication techniques including maintenance of website content, marketing and social media campaigns, community relations, and charitable giving initiatives.
  • Manage the purchasing, tracking, and distribution of merchandise for promotional and donation use; ensure all items are well organized and fully stocked.
  • Track all invoices and expenses associated with events.
  • Create sponsorship agreements and assist with sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Assist with administrative functions.
  • Participate as needed in special company projects.
  • Maintain professional, ethical, and company standards at all times.

Education/Experience:

  •  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years professional experience, including experience in an operations role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • Moderate travel (<20%) to lacrosse games, events, and parties is expected in association with performing this position.  

 

Game Day Intern

Job Description:

The Bayhawks Game Day Intern experiences the fast-paced working environment of Major League Lacrosse while assisting in the planning, preparation, and execution of game day events. While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports management field, it is a non-paid position, however we work with each intern to meet the course requirements needed  in order to earn academic credit for his/her internship participation. 

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily assistance to the game day management team including assisting the Event Manager plan and prepare for each event.
  • Support game day management team members with checklists and maintaining designated work area.
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of designated work areas such as merchandise, field operations, ticket sales, etc.
  • Interact with fans and provide exceptional customer service for a unique game day experience.
  • Participate in additional game day needs as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Eligible candidates include both Undergraduate and Graduate students.
  • Recommended for Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality majors.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a positive and optimistic attitude.
  • Ability to work well in a team based environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must possess working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop.
  • Must be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 80% of time will be spent at the home venue.
  • Approximately 20% of time will be spent at the front office.

 

Marketing Intern

Job Description:

The Bayhawks Marketing Intern will experience the fast-paced working environment of Major League Lacrosse while gaining a deep understanding of sports marketing through hands-on learning.  The primary responsibility of the Marketing Intern is to spread the word and solicit interest in the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Marketing intern will assist with the planning and execution of promotional campaigns, help develop the Bayhawks brand strategy, and assist with additional advertising efforts.  While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports management field, it is a non-paid position, however we work with each intern to meet the course requirements needed  in order to earn academic credit for his/her internship participation. 

FLSA Classification: Non Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily assistance to the Marketing Team including planning and execution of each promotion and sponsor campaign event.
  • Support Marketing team in coordinating overall sponsorship servicing.
  • Develop positive relationships with fans, clients, and community member to help promote the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
  • Assist with developing and coordinating new programs for lead generation.
  • Assist with creative aspects of Bayhawks branding.
  • Track and manage Corporate Partner promotions and prize fulfillment.
  • Attend all promotional events & appearances on game days and throughout community.
  • Help develop and execute game day activities.
  • Participate in additional administrative tasks as required.

  • Recommended for Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Management, or Sports Management majors.

Graphic Design Intern

Job Description:

The Bayhawks Graphic Design Intern experiences the fast-paced working environment of Major League Lacrosse while assisting with the development of promotional items and social media images throughout the 2015 Bayhawks season. The Graphic Design Intern will be responsible for creating graphics for promotional materials and social media platforms, while working closely with the Marketing team on sponsor and promotional campaigns. While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports management field, it is a non-paid position, however we work with each intern to meet the course requirements needed  in order to earn academic credit for his/her internship participation. 

FLSA Classification: Non Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and design marketing materials such as flyers, advertisements, programs and handouts to help promote the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
  • Assist with the design and maintenance of Bayhawks website, as well as other social media platforms.
  • Support Marketing team in the coordination and marketing of promotional events.
  • Assist Marketing team with additional administrative tasks as needed.
  • Attend promotional events and appearances on game days and throughout community.
  • Participate in additional game day needs as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Eligible candidates include both Undergraduate and Graduate students.
  • Recommended for Graphic Design majors; Marketing, Advertising, Communications and other comparable majors are eligible.
  • Proficient in MS Publisher, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Experience in graphic design, social media and web design is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines.

Sales Intern

Job Description:

The Bayhawks Sales Intern experiences the fast-paced working environment of Major League Lacrosse while gaining experience in sales, business development and customer service. The Sales Intern will assist the Sales team in producing ticket revenue by selling and servicing ticket packages to local businesses and non-profit organizations, primarily by phone and outreach events. This individual will gain experience in generating new business by prospecting new clients throughout the community. While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports management field, it is a non-paid position, however we work with each intern to meet the course requirements needed  in order to earn academic credit for his/her internship participation. 

FLSA Classification: Non Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a solid knowledge of the sales and business development process.
  • Prospect and conduct sales calls to assigned leads in effort to sell season, group/corporate and partial plan ticket packages available with the Bayhawks.
  • Attend team and community events for the purpose of making new connections and maximizing sales opportunities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to fans during games at our ticket kiosks.
  • Maintain customer sales database.
  • Assist Sales Department and Box Office with game day preparations.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and appearances.
  • Work hand-in-hand with interns and staff on various assignments before, during, and after games.

Job Requirements:
