This Saturday the Toronto Nationals travel to Hempstead, New York, to take on the Long Island Lizards. Although the Nationals enter this week 0-4, they have been playing much better as of late. Last week they played former Notre Dame goalie Scott Rodgers who shined in net with 19 saves. The Lizards are 2-3, second to last in the league standings. Long Island and Toronto are at the bottom of the league in goals scored, at 51 and 50 respectively. This is one of the few remaining opportunities for the Nationals to get on track as the Lizards are a team they match up with well. Both squads have stout defenses with offenses that have yet to hit their stride. The Lizards are coming off a thrilling 13-12 overtime victory over the Chicago Machine while the Nationals have lost their past three games by a total of five goals. Toronto is looking to get their first W on the board while Long Island wants to catch up to the rest of the pack in second at 3-2.

This weekend the Denver Outlaws travel to Annapolis, Maryland. Chesapeake holds sole possession of first entering week six and has yet to loose on their home field. It will be the first meeting between the two teams as the Outlaws look to knock the Bayhawks out of the top spot. The top two goalies in the league will face each other.  The Bayhawks’ Chris Garrity has made 85 saves on the season and currently has a .620 save percentage. Outlaws’ Head Coach and General Manager Brian Reese said that Jesse Schwartzman will return to the net after Adam Fullerton took over last week. The matchup figures to be the most intense of week six and will impact how the rest of the season plays out.

On Fathers Day two of three teams tied at second in the MLL standings will travel to Virginia Beach to determine who will remain in second (or possibly tied for first if the Outlaws win over the Bayhawks). In week two, the Boston Cannons defeated the Chicago Machine 17-15 at Harvard Stadium in week two, but the Cannons have yet to win an away game. Coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to Long Island last week, the Machine won’t make it easy on the Cannons’ Matt Poskay, Paul Rabil and Max Quinzani. Poskay leads the league with 21 goals so far this season while Rabil and the rookie Quinzani tallied hat-tricks last weekend. The Cannons firing squad will have to outscore the Machine attack led by the Leveille brothers and first overall draft selection Ned Crotty.
