Pro Experience (Chesapeake Bayhawks) Alex was assigned to the Bayhawks in 2009 during MLL Player Reallocation. He has played 38 games with the Bayhawks, recording 6 goals and 2 assists totaling 8 points. He has also registerd 132 ground balls, and won 631 face-offs. In 2009 he was named to the US Men's Training Team, and led the MLL in face-off wins and face-off win percentage. (Rochester Rattlers) Smith was selected 3rd overall by the Rochester Rattlers in the 2007 Collegiate Draft. He played 22 games with the Rattlers recording 5 assists, 173 ground balls, and winning 439 face-offs. He was named the 2007 Cascade Rookie of the Year, and MLL Defensive Player of the Week. He was also elected to play in the 2007 MLL All-Star Game.
College Smith had a remarkable season at Delaware holding an overall face-off percentage of .811 winning 1027 of 1487 attempts. He also recorded 17 goals and 8 assists tallying 25 points, and 553 ground balls He was named 2004 CAA Co-Rookie of the Year, Tewaarton Trophy Watch list, 2007 CAA Tournement Most Oustanding Player as well as 2007 CAA Player of the Year.
High School Alex was a standout at Boy's Latin School in Baltimore where he boasted an overall record of 52-10, and led the Lakers to a 2002 MIAA Championship. He was named 2 time All-State, 2 time Groundball Award winner, and Gelston Award winner his senior year. Smith was also President of the Student Body, and a member of the Speech and Debate Society.
Personal Alex is a volunteer assistant coach for Delaware, and runs face-off camps with his company; FOGO lacrosse. His father played college tennis at West Virginia and mother played college lacrosse at Towson. Alex graduated from the University of Delaware in 2007 with a degree in Business Marketing. |
