Pro Experience (Chesapeake Bayhawks) Matt was selected 9th overall by the Bayhawks in the 2009 MLL Collegiate Draft. He has played in 52 games for the Hawks, recording 26 goals and 18 assists totaling 44 points, and adding 177 ground balls. During his rookie season, Matt was named to the 2009 US Men's Training Team and just this past year was named MLL Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career after his performance in a win against the New York Lizards. He is currently third on the Bayhawks all-time career list in ground balls. College Matt played college lacrosse at Syracuse where he played in 64 games, recording 41 goals and 26 assists totaling 67 points and adding 212 ground balls. He was named USILA 1st Team All-American, Tewaaraton and Lowe's Senior Class Award Finalist, USILA Scholar All-American, NCAA All-Tournement Team, and 1st Team Lowe's Senior All-American. High School Matt attended Nottingham High School, where he was a 3-year captain, and totaled 212 points (131 goals and 81 assists). Matt was born in September of 1986 to Tom and Lorrie Abbott, in Syracuse Ny. He graduated from Syracuse University in 2009 with a degree in Accounting and Finance. |
