Professional Joey was drafted by the Los Angeles Riptide in 2008, and has since played for the Chicago Machine and the Chesapeake Bayhawks. As a Bayhawk, he has played in 4 games, recording 37 saves. College Kemp continued his impressive lacrosse career at the University of Notre Dame, where he collected many decorations and awards including GWLL rookie of the year, All-GWLL, GWLL player of the year, NCAA save percentage leader, USILA honorable mention as well as USILA All-American, and the Kelly Award for the most outstanding goaltender in the NCAA. He also leads the Irish in many categories including victories, goals against average, minutes played by a goaltender, games started by a goaltender, and saves.
High School Kemp earned 10 letters in lacrosse, hockey and football at Georgetown Prep, as well as All Conference selections in all three sports. Joey's lacrosse team boasted a national ranking all four years of his high school career, and he has earned numerous accolades in lacrosse including All-Conference, All-City, All-Metro, All-County, All-State, and All-American, as well as team MVP and captain his Junior and Senior years. Kemp also led Georgetown Prep to a 22-1 record, and number 1 National ranking by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. Personal Several members of the Kemp family have competed in intercollegiate athletics. Joey's father, Robert, played football at William & Mary under former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz; sister, Julie, was a swimmer at the University of Miami , brother, C.J., was a lacrosse All-American and the 2002 Great Western Lacrosse League player of the year as Fairfield's goalie, sister, Erin, was a swimmer at Towson, sister Elizabeth, currently swims for the University of Florida and was an All-American during her freshman season in 2006-07. Joey graduted from the University of Notre Dame in 2008 with a degree in Business and a cumlitive G.P.A of 3.04 |
