ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 9, 2010)– The Chesapeake Bayhawks have acquired a 4th round draft pick (#23 overall) from the Denver Outlaws in exchange for defenseman Ryan McFadyen, and a 4th round draft pick (#19 overall) from the Chicago Machine in exchange for midfielder Brett Garber, according to Bayhawks General Manager Spencer Ford.
The Bayhawks now own seven selections in the 2010 MLL Collegiate draft which will take place on June 6th at Yale University. In addition to #19 and #23, the Bayhawks will have the #2, 8, 32, 38, and 44th picks overall.
“This trade will help both organizations out”, said General Manager Spencer Ford in regards to the Ryan McFadyen trade. “Denver will add a solid defenseman to their roster and we will gain another young player with a bright future in the MLL with the 4th pick in this year’s collegiate draft. We wish Ryan the best of luck in all he does.”
McFadyen, a 2009 graduate from Duke University, was drafted in the fourth round – #33 overall – of the 2009 MLL Draft.
“Although we never had an opportunity to be on the field with Brett, I am sure he will be pretty happy to play for the same organization that his dad is coaching”, said Ford regarding the Brett Garber trade. “It’s not every day that can happen. We wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Garber was selected by Boston with the 38th overall pick in the 2007 Collegiate Draft. His father, Ted, is an assistant coach for the Machine.
The Bayhawks open their season on May 15th at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium when they take on the Long Island Lizards at 7 PM. Ticket information is available at www.thebayhawks.com
