Annapolis, MD. The Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) strengthened their team over the weekend and claimed three players from the MLL Player Pool according to General Manager Spencer Ford. Defenseman Billy Geist (Harvard ’10) and Midfielders Pat Muston (UMBC ’04) and Greg Wojtech (UMBC ‘03) were added to the roster bringing the Bayhawks active roster to 38 players.
Muston, who also specializes at face-offs, saw MLL playing time as a former Bayhawk in 2007. In his two career MLL games, Muston recorded three ground balls and won 5 of 13 face-off attempts.
“Muston is a big, strong, and tough face-off man,” Ford commented. “He and Alex Smith will make a very good duo. Pat also plays with an energy that intimidates many players.”
Wojtech was a part of Team Germany, who won the European Championship in 2001. A two-time Second Team All-ECAC player, he also was a member of the 2005 championship Bayhawks practice team.
“Wojtech is a very tenacious and hungry long pole,” Ford said. “If the ball is on the ground, you can usually count on him coming away with it. He plays with a passion that will be welcomed by all of our current team.”
The rookie acquisition, Geist, will be sure to bring new energy to the team and challenge the veteran defensemen once training camp begins in the spring. Geist was undrafted during the 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft, but will look to earn his way onto the 23-man roster during training camp.
“Geist is a very smart and sound defenseman,” Ford stated. “Coming off a great career at Harvard, he will be eager to get out and prove his worth.”
