Lax For Life

The Chesapeake Bayhawks and the Greater Washington Sports Alliance are proud to support The Be More Giving Foundation to launch “Lax for Lives,”  a cause initiative dedicated to raising awareness and support for cancer research.

The inaugural “Lax For Lives”event will be held in conjunction with The Chesapeake Bayhawks game on Saturday, June 9^th at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. The event will honor local Leukemia survivor Tommy Cleaver and his inspiring commitment to advancing blood cancer research through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year Campaign.  

All event attendees and Chesapeake Bayhawks season ticket-holders will have the opportunity to donate to the cause before and during the game and any online ticket sales using Member Code BH4LLS will generate $4 each for LLS!

The spotlight, however, is on the  10 days leading up to Lax for Lives honoring cancer survivors. Beginning on Wednesday, May 30th, anyone will have the opportunity to honor cancer survivors across the country through their virtual SURVIVOR WALL.  www.SurvivorWall.orgOR http://bemoregiving.r2ismash.com.  Click “How to Smash” on the right side of the page to share.
 

Two former Bayhawks players, Ronnie Staines and Kevin Frew, are close friends of Cleaver and members of his fundraising group: Team Living Proof. “What better way to honor one of our best friends 10-year battle with cancer than to give thousands of other survivors the opportunity to share their own unique experiences and inspire others” said Be More Giving Foundation founder, Kevin Frew.  

There are three opportunities for survivors, their friends, and their loved ones to connect with one another and show their support;

1. Honor A Survivor on “The Survivor Wall” at www.survivorwall.org(starts May 30^th)  Survivors and their loved ones are encouraged to go online, honor a survivor with their name and city, and inspire others with their story while connecting with others survivors around the globe.  Suggested donation is  $5.00 to continued research and awareness.  
2. Attend “Lax For Lives” and buy a ticket with the Member Code BH4LLS to the Chesapeake Bayhawks Game vs the Charlotte Hounds at 7pm on June 9^th.  $4 from every ticket will go to fund Cancer Research, code BH4LLS
3. Purchase your “Lax For Lives” raffle ticket for a chance to win a signed Bayhawks Jersey with all of the 2012 players.  Announced at halftime of the June 9^th Game.
