Bayhawks Dominate All-Star Roster

For just the third time in MLL history, a team’s entire starting defense will be representing them in the All-Star Game.  The 2012 Chesapeake Bayhawks will be joining the likes of the 2006 Long Island Lizards and the 2009 Toronto Nationals.  Veteran defenseman Nicky Polanco will be making his ninth trip to the All-Star Game held in Boca Raton, Florida this year, while Brian Spallina will make his fourth appearance and Michael Evans his third.  Chesapeake’s defense is ranked third in goals allowed this season, and second since acquiring Polanco in week 4. 

The Bayhawks feature more all-stars than any other team in the MLL - sending 7 players to Boca Raton.  Brian Spallina, Nicky Polanco, Kyle Dixon, Steven Brooks, and Drew Westervelt will be suiting up for Team Old School, while Michael Evans and Ben Hunt will represent the Young Guns. 

Chesapeake’s 2012 All-Star class has a staggering 22 years of all-star experience between the 7 selections. 

“Having seven All-Stars is a testament to how well we’re playing as a team,” said Bayhawks general manager Brian Reese. “If you ask any of these guys, they’ll tell you their teammates have a large part in their performance.  I know they’re all going to represent the Bayhawks well in Florida.” 

The 2012 MLL All-Star game will air live on ESPN 2 at 7:30 pm from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
