After a close loss in Charlotte, the Bayhawks hope to turn their four-game road trip around with a win over the Rattlers in Rochester. The Rattlers swept the Long Island Lizards in last weekend’s series, bettering their record to 5-4. They are undefeated on their home turf at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester. The Bayhawks aim to end this streak and bounce back from their first loss since falling to the Rattlers on May 12th.
The last time these two teams faced off, the Rattlers handed the Bayhawks their first defeat, a 12-8 loss in Annapolis. Rochester’s backup goaltender Mike Gabel delivered a career performance with 27 saves, frustrating the Chesapeake offense. This time around, the Bayhawks may face a new opponent in the net, as John Galloway is still the regular starter in goal. On the defensive end, the Bayhawks were missing two starting defensemen in their last matchup with Rochester. Michael Evans and Barney Ehrmann were both sidelined by illness. Back at full strength, the Chesapeake defense should pose a tougher challenge for Rochester’s leading scorer, Ned Crotty.
With playoffs around the corner, a win is even more essential for both teams. While no playoff berths can be clinched this week, each team looks for a win to position themselves for the postseason. Rochester is currently fourth in the league. Since only four teams will advance to the playoffs, they need to improve their record to further secure this unsteadythe Boston Ca position. Both nnons and the Denver Outlaws are currently only one game behind Chesapeake, so a win is crucial to maintain the Bayhawks’ top spot in the MLL. The Bayhawks and the Rattlers face off at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 14th.
