Fresh off a big win over the Rochester Rattlers, the Chesapeake Bayhawks are ready to carry that momentum into their last four regular season games of the season. The Bayhawks will virtually clinch a spot in the playoffs with a win on Saturday.
As the Bayhawks travel to Ohio this weekend to face the Ohio Machine, the Bayhawks are in the best position they have been in since the 2005 season. This will mark the first time the Bayhawks have been above the .500 mark at this point in the season in the last seven seasons.
The Bayhawks are currently 8-2 and are sitting at the top of the MLL standings. While a victory in Saturday’s game will clinch a playoff berth, it does not mean they will have a smooth road to the playoffs from there. The Bayhawks last three games of the regular season will be against potential playoff teams—the Boston Cannons, the Long Island Lizards, and the Denver Outlaws.
This week the Boston Cannons and Denver Outlaws faced each other in a Thursday night game in which the Outlaws came out on top. This weekend the Long Island Lizards will face the Hamilton National’s. The Rochester Rattlers are in the race for a playoff spot, but the Bayhawks hold the tie breaker due to goal differential in head-to-head games against the Rattlers.
The Bayhawks last three games could be a glimpse at what the playoff picture could be for the MLL.
The Bayhawks return home on Saturday, August 4th to battle their long time rivals the Long Island Lizards. Papa John’s will be giving away thunder sticks at the gates.
