Bayhawks Travel to Boston for Thier Last Away Game of the Season

In the final match-up of their four-game road trip, the Bayhawks will take on the Cannons in Boston this Saturday. After clinching a playoff berth in last week’s victory over the Ohio Machine, the Bayhawks hope to return to Annapolis with yet another win. Coming off a loss to the Denver Outlaws at home, the Cannons currently sit in fourth place in the MLL standings. While they cannot guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs this weekend, a win is crucial to stay in contention as only four teams will make it to championship weekend.

When these two teams faced off in Annapolis on June 23^rd, Chesapeake pulled out a 14-13 victory after an extremely close game. The Cannons came within one goal of the Bayhawks six times but were never able to take the lead. Goaltender Kip Turner made six saves in the last five minutes to crush Boston’s comeback attempt.

The Chesapeake defense showed that they are in top form with their win in Ohio.  The Machine tallied only two goals in the second half, as the Bayhawks defensemen kept them scoreless for 26 ½ minutes. Kip Turnerearned defensive player of the week honors for shutting down the Ohio offense in goal. The Bayhawks will need to repeat this stellar defensive performance in order to stave off Boston’s Paul Rabil, who leads the league in scoring with 56 points. The Bayhawks and the Cannons face off at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 28^that Harvard Stadium in Boston.
