2010 All-MLL Team Includes Poillon, Evans, Smith

March 18, 2016
2010 GREAT ATLANTIC ALL-MLL TEAM ANNOUNCED

Boston, Mass. (August 20, 2010) - Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional lacrosse league, announced the 2010 Great Atlantic All-MLL Team recognizing the best players at each position. Three Chesapeake Bayhawks players were named to the list: Peet Poillon, Michael Evans, and Alex Smith.
The All-MLL selections were based on votes submitted by the general managers and head coaches of the six MLL teams. Named to the All-MLL team were:

Attack: Matt Poskay (Boston), Mike Leveille (Chicago), Matt Danowski (Long Island)
Midfield: Paul Rabil (Boston), Peet Poillon (Chesapeake), Max Seibald (Denver)
Defense: Brodie Merrill (Toronto), Michael Evans (Chesapeake), Lee Zink (Denver), Matt Bocklet (Denver)
Goalkeeper: Drew Adams (Long Island)
Face-off Specialist: Alex Smith (Chesapeake)

“Its fantastic for us to have 3 guys receive All-Pro honors, since there are only 12 players on the team,” said Bayhawks General Manager Spencer Ford.
Peet Poillon earned a spot on the 2010 Great Atlantic All-MLL Team for the first time in his career. The Bayhawks midfielder made his name known in the MLL in his first full season in the league, scoring 21 goals and 15 assists. He finished third in the league in points with 41. Poillon found success in the first game of the season against the Long Island Lizards scoring 5 goals, 2 assists, and 7 points. The graduate from UMBC was named the MLL Warrior Most Improved Player for the 2010 season.
“To lead a team in goals, points, and assists you can really see how valuable Peet is”, said Ford.
Michael Evans also earned All-Pro honors for the first time in his career. Since the Bayhawks drafted him out of John Hopkins, Evans has proven to be one of the best lock-down defenders in the league in just his second season in the MLL. He also added 6 groundballs while playing in all 12 games this season.
Ford believes that Evans “is the best defenseman in the world at this point in time. He proves that week in and week out”.

For the fourth year in a row Bayhawks face-off specialist Alex Smith has been voted on to the Great Atlantic All-MLL Team. Smith went 196-332 this season at the face-off X. Smith has a career regular season face-off winning percentage of .600.  He is already sixth all-time in face-off wins with 861, and has taken 1,426 face-offs in his MLL career.

“Alex is the best at what he does,” said Ford. “Alex makes it easy to keep a 3-4 goal lead.”
The Bayhawks will be back on the field Saturday, August 21st to take on the Boston Cannons for the MLL Championship Weekend Semifinal game at 12:00pm, held at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
