Dave Cottle Named Coach for All-Star Team

March 18, 2016
The MLL has recently named Dave Cottle, Coach of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, as one of the coaches for this year’s All-Star Game held in Charlotte, NC. Cottle comes into the All-Star game with years of experience that will be extremely beneficial to those that will be playing for him.

Following his career at Salisbury University where he was a standout member of the lacrosse team holding numerous school records,  Cottle went on to coach Loyola University’s men’s lacrosse team. Cottle stayed with Loyola for 19 years leading them to 14 consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament. In 2001, Cottle shifted his attention to the University of Maryland’s lacrosse team where he had been named as the head coach. Similar to his time with Loyola, Cottle was able to bring the Terps to 8 consecutive NCAA appearances. With the success that Dave Cottle has in the coaching of winning teams it was clear that he would be a great fit for the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

Coach Cottle joined the Bayhawks team in July 2010, alongside current owner Brendan Kelly, bringing his expert coaching knowledge to the field.  In his first two years with the team, the Bayhawks put another championship win under their belt and another appearance in the playoffs.  Cottle was named head coach of the Bayhawks in 2012; it was in this season that the Bayhawks won their 4 th championship title.

Cottle is able to relate on a different level with each of his players almost instantly; being able to find the best fit for them in any situation.  His years of experience and his ability to read the field and players has attributed immensely to his success. Those players, which are participating under the guidance of Coach Cottle, are receiving an opportunity to see exactly what it is that has made the Bayhawks such a successful team. Cottle’s approach to coaching is unlike any other, and the All-Star Game is lucky to have him as one of the head coaches.
