BOSTON, MA. (April 15th, 2010) –Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that the Chicago Machine will face the Chesapeake Bayhawks at Joe Walton Stadium on the campus of Robert Morris University on Sunday, May 30 th, according to Commissioner David Gross.
The game between the Machine and the Bayhawks will take place at 4 p.m at Joe Walton Stadium – the latest addition to Robert Morris University’s Moon Township campus.
“Major League Lacrosse is very excited to come to Pittsburgh this season,” commented Gross. “It is one of the many growing lacrosse markets across the country and we’re confident that this will be a great event for all the lacrosse fans in the region.”
The Bayhawks and the Machine met three times during the regular season last year. The Bayhawks won two of the three meetings, including a 17-16 overtime victory at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on August 1. Chicago defeated the Bayhawks by an 18-11 score at Toyota Park on July 25 while the Bayhawks posted a 16-14 victory at UIHLEIN Soccer Park in Milwaukee, WI.
“Pittsburgh is as die-hard a sports city as any,” added Machine President
John Algie, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. “I’m sure the fans here will embrace the fast-paced, hard-hitting action of Major League Lacrosse.”
The Machine will play their entire 2010 regular season as a travel team with additional dates and locations to be announced in the coming weeks. The Machine recently announced that they will be hosting the Boston Cannons at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex on June 20
th and the Denver Outlaws at Rochester’s Marina Auto Stadium on June 25
The Bayhawks open their season on May 15th at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium when they take on the Long Island Lizards at 7 PM. Ticket information is available at
