ANNAPOLIS, MD - Midfielder Kyle Dixon was named as the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Offensive Player of the Week for week two of the 2012 season. With ten points on four goals and three assists, Dixon led the Bayhawks to a 23-11 victory over the Ohio Machine before a franchise-record crowd of 10,162 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday, May 5 th.
Dixon now has 36 career 2-pointers, breaking the previous league record of 33 that was held by former Bridgeport/Philadelphia Barrage midfielder
Roy Colsey. Dixon also scored three 2-pointers during the game to tie the Major League Lacrosse all-time record in that category. The veteran is the eighth player in MLL history with three 2-point goals in a single game.
“Dixon’s first record was a testament to his longevity and talent,” Bayhawks head coach
Dave Cottle said. “His accomplishments in this league are impressive. If Kyle’s first 2-pointer hadn’t hit the pipe, he may have broken the 2-point goals in a single game record. It has been evident to me since the beginning of the season that Kyle would be great. He has been practicing hard and he is highly motivated.”
