Nine Bayhawks to Star in All-Star Game

Boston, MA (June 21, 2010) – Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced the 2010 Major League Lacrosse All Star Game roster. The 20-man squad will face off against the US Men’s National Team on Thursday July 8, at Harvard Stadium in Boston, MA at 7 PM ET. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Dave Huntley, who guided the Toronto Nationals to the MLL Championship last season, will serve as Head Coach for the MLL All Stars. Assistant coaches are Boston Cannons coach Bill Daye and Chesapeake Bayhawks coach John Tucker.

Here are the 2010 Major League Lacrosse All-Stars from the Chesapeake Bayhawks:


Danny Glading (Attack)– In the midst of his breakout season in the MLL, his second year in the league. Through 6 games this season he has scored 12 goals and has collected 18 groundballs becoming a top scoring option for the Bayhawks. He attended the University of Virginia, and during his time there he won the 2006 National Championship and was a three-time All-American and a runner up for the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2009. He is attending his first MLL All-Star game.

Matt Abbott (Midfield) – In his second year with the Bayhawks Matt Abbott is having a breakout season. He leads the Bayhawks midfield with 22 groundballs through six games and has also scored 6 goals and picked up 4 assists. While attending Syracuse University, he was a two time national champion (2008,2009) and was a two time All-American (2008,2009). He is attending his first MLL All-Star game.

Peet Poillon (Midfield) – Peet Poillon has stepped up tremendously for the Bayhawks in the first half of the season for the Bayhawks. In just his second year he has become one of the best scoring midfielders in Major League Lacrosse. Through six games he has scored 15 goals, picked up 10 assists and ranks second in the league in points with 26. He attended the Ohio State University but then transfered to UMBC. He is playing in his first MLL All-Star game.

Michael Evans (Defense) – In his second year in the MLL, Michael Evans has become the leader of one of the MLL’s best teams. The Bayhawks have been led by their defense which has held teams to under 13 points a game this season en route to a 4-2 record. Evans attended Johns Hopkins University where he was an All-American in 2008 and a 2007 National Champion. He was also a runner up for the Lowes Senior Class Award. He will be playing in his first MLL All-Star game.

Chris Garrity (Goalie) – Through six games this season Chris Garrity is having a career year. He has made 98 saves, a 12.32 goals against average and has a league best save percentage of .587. Garrity has been in the league since 2003 and this is his fourth season in a Bayhawks uniform. He has been an MLL All-Pro once in 2005, and an MLL All-Star three times (2006,2007,2008). Garrity was also named the 2005 Major League Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Year.

The Bayhawks will also be represented on the Team USA roster. These players include:

Joe Cinosky (Defense)– In his fourth year in the MLL, and first in a Bayhawks uniform Cinosky has played in 6 games this season and has picked up 7 ground balls. Cinosky is part of one the strongest defenses in the MLL this summer.  He was a 2008 All-American at the University of Maryland during his senior season for the Terps. Cinosky was also a 2009 MLL All-Star and MLL Champion with the Toronto Nationals.

Alex Smith (Face-Off Specialist) – Alex is in his fourth year in Major League Lacrosse and continues to be one of the top face-off specialists in the league. He currently has a .603 face-off win percentage. He has also scored two goals and had two assists so far this season for the Bayahwks. During his MLL career Smith has been named a two time all-star (2007, 2009), a three time MLL All-Pro (2007,2008,2009) and a 2008 MLL Champion with the Rochester Rattlers.

Kyle Dixon (Midfield) – In his fifth year in a Bayhawks uniform Kyle Dixon is having a record breaking year. He has moved into first place in franchise career history with 25 2-point goals. In six games this season Dixon has scored 12 goals, 8 2-point goals, 4 assists for 24 points. Dixon has been a MLL All-Star twice (2007,2009) and an MLL All-Pro twice (2007,2009), with another one expected after the 2010 season, since he began playing for the Bayhawks in 2006. While at Virginia he also won two National Championships (2003, 2006) and was selected as a second-team All Americanduring his junior season and a first-team All-American during his senior season while also being nominated as a Tewaaraton Trophyfinalist. In 2006, he also won the McLaughlin Awardas the nation's best midfielder.

Shawn Nadelen (Defense) –  Nadelen is the longest tenured Bayhawk in franchise history having worn a Bayahwks uniform in 92 Major League Lacrosse games. During his MLL career Nadelen has been named an MLL All-Star twice (2006,2008) and a two time MLL Champion (2002,2005) while also being named an MLL All-Pro in 2005. Nadelen has missed all 6 Bayhawks games with a knee injury sustained prior to the 2010 season.
